| Cheese and Sauerkraut 10-Mile Road Race December 9, 2006 8:30 a.m. start. Temperature of 24 degrees F | |||
| Eighteen runners took the challenge of predicting their 10-mile times with very little wind, sunshine, 24 degrees, 8 miles of clear, flat road, and two miles of deep, crusty snow along the MKT Trail stretch there at McBaine. The winner of the cheese was Rev. Phil Schaefer who was just 25 seconds off. Mind you, the runners had no watches nor did we give them the 5 mile split (loop, dog-leg, twice), so Phil must have used Divine intervention to get so close given the 2 miles of snow covered trail. Lisa Wells had the worst prediction, 17.06 over. She ran courageously, however, as the snow cover caused major problems with a nagging injury. The first male and overall winner was Andy Emerson in 1:16.39. It was nice to see Jeff Borengasser who ran with the CTC Colts many years ago. He finished a close second and his wife, Sarah, was the second female. The female winner was a former Hickman runner, Karla Lang (5th overall) in 1:20.39.
